Over the recent years, the division - run by Albert van de Wetering - has become more focused on meeting this market demand and set out to expand the after sales infrastructure beyond Rosslyn. Our fully equipped on-call mobile maintenance and after sales service teams ensure you have support no matter where the road may take you.
The daily capacity of the dedicated Repairs and Refurbishments division is three trailers a day. Our diverse team deals with anything from minor technical repairs through to accident damage (such as mending a trailer that has been hit by a train).
In terms of remote support, the general trend amongst trailer manufacturers is to use their sales people for support. We however feel that we can better support our customers with the dedicated on-call mobile maintenance and after sales service teams along our customers’ main routes.
Our long-term vision and strategy is to approve and franchise repair centres to reliable partners across the country, thus giving our customers an even wider network of reliable after sales support.
Local Repairs and Refurbishment
Warranty rework
- In the event of any defects on the production line or any last minute changes in customer specifications, the trailer is re-routed to the repairs and refurbishment division.
- In the event of any defect claims or design errors that are picked up by the Production Information Team, the trailer is recalled and rework is done under warranty.
General refurbishments
- AFRIT trailers are built to last and some customers find it more cost-effective to refurbish existing trailers, rather than purchasing new trailers. Work done ranges from general improvements through to major alterations such as the conversion of a Flatdeck to a Sliding Curtain.
Accident Damage
- This makes up 50% of the work currently undertaken in the division and can range from major through to minor accident damage.

AFRIT offers a national footprint of dedicated product support technicians in the following areas:

2. Kwazulu-Natal
3. Pretoria
Our support teams are ready to respond rapidly to any emergency breakdown, ensuring that downtime becomes drive time. In addition, our network of local contractors (approved by AFRIT) ensure customers can have quality work done on trailers within their region.
Product Information Team
We are constantly seeking to improve on the design of our trailers, as well as provide efficient after sales service to our clients. Our Product Information Team has been put in place for the sole purpose of collecting information, feedback and logging errors, thus creating a feedback loop and flow of information between our customers, our manufacturing team and our design team. |
